How can I find out who my state and congressional legislators are?
Click on the "Write Your Legislators" on the "Go" button above and then put in or find your 4-digit zip code to determine your legislators in either the Prince George's County or Charles County section of Brandywine.

When and where can I register to vote?
The deadline is 25 days prior to any election. The printable registration form is at Maryland Board of Elections Registration.

I won't be home during the election, how can I vote with an absentee ballot?
Absentee ballot forms are at Maryland Board of Elections Absentee Ballots. A REQUEST TO MAIL A ABSENTEE BALLOT CANNOT BE ACCEPTED BY THE ELECTION OFFICE LATER THAN (7) DAYS BEFORE AN ELECTION. Your voted ballot must be received in the Election Office NOT LATER THAN 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Who are the candidates in Prince George's County for the upcoming election?
The Prince George's County Board of elections site should be listing candidates at Prince George's County Board of Elections. Our School Board District is number 9, Precinct is 1, and Coucilmanic District 9. (For those in Charles County, check Charles County Board of Elections)

Who are the candidates in the Maryland state elections?
Candidate information can be found at the State Board of Elections. Accokeek is in Congressional District 5 and Legislative District 27A.

Who are our present elected representatives and where can I learn more about them?
In Prince George's County: See the School Board web site for those representatives - presently all of them represent all of us - there are no elected district representatives since this is an appointed school board. The County Council represent us in local government - Accokeek and most of southern Prince George's is in District 9, though part of Fort Washington is in District 8 (use the form at the top of the page with your zip code to be sure). The Governor is the head of our state government. Our State Senator, Mike Miller and Delegates, James Proctor and Joseph Vallario, make up our Maryland General Assembly. Here is Common Cause information about our District 27 Legislators. Our state delegates are part of the Prince George's County Delegation. Our US Senators are Barbara Mikulski and Paul Sarbanes and US Congressional Representative is Steny Hoyer.
